Noriko's Dinner Table Blu-ray from New Wave Video

New Wave Video is releasing Noriko's Dinner Table (2005) on Blu-ray, with an estimated ship window in late February or early March. It features a 1080p presentation from a new 4K restoration sourced from the original 35mm picture and sound negatives.

Film Overview

Noriko's Dinner Table (Japanese: 紀子の食卓, Noriko no Shokutaku) is a 2005 Japanese psychological horror film written and directed by Sion Sono, and serves as a prequel to Sono’s 2002 independent horror film Suicide Club.

While Suicide Club centers on the mass suicide of fifty-four schoolgirls and the investigation that follows, Noriko's Dinner Table unfolds before, during, and after the events of that film, addressing questions left unresolved. The story explores themes of generational conflict, personal identity, social alienation, suicide, and the influence of the Internet.

The film is divided into chapters and presented in a nonlinear narrative structure. Noriko's Dinner Table received a special mention at the 40th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and was released theatrically in Japan on September 23, 2006.
