You Shoot, I Shoot (2001) Blu-ray from New Wave Video

New Wave Video is releasing You Shoot, I Shoot (2001) on Blu-ray in August, marking the label's first Hong Kong title. The Director Approved Special Edition presents Pang Ho-cheung's cult black comedy from a new 2K restoration by Orange Sky Golden Harvest, limited to 1,500 units.
You Shoot, I Shoot follows a hitman, played by Eric Kot, who takes an unusual assignment: he must not only kill his targets but film the killings as proof for his clients. When his amateur camerawork falls short, he brings in an aspiring filmmaker, played by Cheung Tat-ming, to direct and shoot the murders with cinematic flair. The arrangement grows into a booming enterprise of stylized contract killings, and the rising reputation pulls the pair into increasingly outrageous and dangerous situations. Pang Ho-cheung, who went on to direct Dream Home and Love in a Puff, blends crime, satire, and filmmaking into the Hong Kong comedy.
The film is presented in 1080p at a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Cantonese 2.0 stereo audio. Two new commentaries lead the bonus features. The first pairs Pang Ho-cheung with editor Wenders Li and composer Peter Kam, and the second brings together critic James Marsh and cinema historian Pierce Conran.
Beyond the commentaries, the disc includes a legacy making-of featurette and a set of deleted scenes with introductions by Pang Ho-cheung. A bloopers reel, "The Killings" DV footage, a music video for the theme song, and the theatrical trailer round out the on-disc material. A booklet with a new essay by Pang Ho-cheung accompanies the release, alongside new slipcover artwork by Lucas Peverill.
The release reflects a wider plan at New Wave Video. The label describes You Shoot, I Shoot as a passion project from producer William Wong and says it is testing the waters with Hong Kong cinema, with more underseen Hong Kong films planned for the future. It follows the label's launch of the Nami Films sublabel and its first release, Naoko Ogigami’s Kamome Diner (2026).
You Shoot, I Shoot arrives on Blu-ray in August 2026 and is currently available to pre-order.
