When a seemingly unmanned ship crashes into a Brooklyn dock, ship inspector Silas Green and his troublemaking nephew Julius discover, to their horror, that the vessel’s entire crew has been killed, their maimed and mutilated corpses strewn across the deck. Stranger still, a vicious wolf is on board, sending Julius running in terror, only for him to stumble into a group of neighborhood gangsters to whom he owes a hefty sum. But when the wolf transforms into the debonair vampire Max, who gorily dispatches the thugs, he offers Julius a bargain he can’t refuse: become his undead servant. Meanwhile, Detective Rita Veder is assigned to solve the mystery of the bloodied boat and quickly begins to sense that something unusual is afoot.
