About The Man Who Thought Life (1969)

Brain surgeon Max Holst (Preben Neergaard) encounters a man named Steinmetz (John Price) in a psychiatric facility. Believing that Steinmetz is delusional, Holst offers to help him in the facility, only for Steinmetz to escape hours later. An invite arrives. Holst visits Steinmetz’s house, an opulent, avant-garde dream palace where Steinmetz informs Holst that he has a special talent: he can create any object simply by concentrating on the image of it in his mind. Up to, and including, organic life. To his frustration, Steinmetz cannot sustain living creatures: he has made three mice with his mind, but each dissolves hours later. Steinmetz believes Holst can perform surgery that will amplify Steinmetz’s powers, but could also be fatal.
