Deaf Crocodile will release 3x Teuvo Tulio as a Deluxe Limited Edition in November. The three-film set collects Cross of Love, Restless Blood, and Sensuela on Blu-ray, sourced from recent restorations by KAVI, the National Audiovisual Institute of Finland.

Following the label’s recent Sirius (1942) Blu-ray release, this new set continues Deaf Crocodile’s ongoing preservation of landmark world cinema. Fans of classic world cinema box sets may also want to explore BFI’s Akira Kurosawa: Samurai Blu-ray Collection and Third Window Films’ Maiku Hama Trilogy.

What’s in the box

The set includes three feature films across three Blu-ray discs, Finnish audio with English subtitles, and a 60-page booklet with newly commissioned essays and artwork.

Film lineup

Cross of Love (1946, 99 minutes)
A lighthouse keeper’s dark past frames the story of Riitta, whose flight to the city spirals into exploitation and transgression. Later remade by Tulio as Sensuela.

Restless Blood (1946, 100 minutes)
A family tragedy sends Sylvi into blindness and despair as jealousy and betrayal twist a once secure marriage into a noir-tinted melodrama.

Sensuela (1973, 104 minutes)
Tulio’s notorious swansong tracks Laila from the far north to a volatile city life of seduction, fashion, and erotic spectacle that blurs art-film and sexploitation.

Audio and authoring

All three features are presented in Finnish with English subtitles. Blu-ray authoring is by David Mackenzie of Fidelity In Motion.

Special features

  • Archival fragments from Tulio’s early features: Struggle for the House of Heikkilä (1936, 9-minute clip) and Fall Asleep When Young (1937, 22 minutes)
