The heroes in a half shell are getting the deluxe treatment. Arrow Video has announced a new 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray limited edition release of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy, fully restored and packed with extras.

This limited edition set brings together all three films in new 4K presentations, upgraded from original 35mm elements, and loaded with fresh special features.

Synopsis

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film series kicked off in 1990 with director Steve Barron’s gritty, high-energy take on the independent comic. Blending martial arts action with animatronic wizardry by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, the film became a box office hit and an instant touchstone for a generation.

Its sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991), leaned into the franchise’s fun side. It explored the turtles’ origins and introduced new mutant villains Tokka and Rahzar. The stakes were higher and the pizza still plentiful.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993) rounded out the trilogy with a time-travel storyline that sent the turtles to feudal Japan. While the tone shifted, the film delivered samurai swordplay, comic mayhem, and more screen time for fan-favorite characters.

Video details

Arrow Video has undertaken new 4K restorations for each entry in the trilogy. The first film is sourced from its original 35mm negative. TMNT II and TMNT III come from their original 35mm interpositives.

All three films are presented in 2160p resolution with Dolby Vision HDR, which is also compatible with HDR10 displays. The Blu-ray set will include 1080p high-definition presentations sourced from the same new restorations.

Audio details

Each film includes its original stereo audio along with newly remixed surround sound options.

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles features the original lossless stereo and a new Dolby Atmos track.
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II and III offer original lossless stereo and new DTS-HD MA 5.1 mixes.

These upgrades give viewers the choice to hear the films as they originally sounded or through a modern immersive presentation.

Special features

Arrow is pulling out all the stops with newly produced special features.

  • Brand new director commentaries for all three films
  • Exclusive new interviews with cast and crew
  • Reversible sleeves with original and newly commissioned artwork by Matt Frank and Roberto Rivera Padro
  • A perfect-bound booklet featuring essays by Simon Ward, John Torrani, and John Walsh

Additional extras will be announced on September 26.

Final thoughts

Arrow’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy 4K release is shaping up to be the most complete home video edition the franchise has received. With new restorations, expanded audio options, and a curated selection of bonus content, it offers longtime fans a definitive way to revisit the TMNT legacy.
