Reel Vault is releasing Pointed Heels (1929) on Blu-ray this month.
Synopsis
Pointed Heels is a pre-Code musical drama where romance, ambition, and class tensions unfold under the bright lights of Broadway. Fay Wray stars as Lora Nixon, a chorus girl who marries wealthy composer Donald Ogden (Phillips Holmes), only to find themselves struggling after his disapproving mother cuts him off financially.
As Donald labors to complete his symphony, their marriage begins to strain under the weight of hardship. Meanwhile, Broadway producer Robert Courtland (William Powell) quietly admires Lora but chooses to keep his distance. The film also features musical numbers by Helen Kane, whose energetic style and voice would later inspire the character Betty Boop.
