Nadja is a moody, deadpan reimagining of the Dracula myth. It draws on Dracula’s Daughter (1936) and Andre Breton’s surrealist novel Nadja, filtering both through a postmodern lens. Almereyda conceived the film in 1993, after David Lynch invited him to come up with a low-budget genre movie.

The story follows estranged vampire twins Nadja (Elina Lowensohn) and Edgar (a young Jared Harris), who reunite after their father dies. Their father meets his end at the hands of the flamboyantly unhinged Dr. Van Helsing (Peter Fonda). Following Nadja, Almereyda went on to direct Tesla, Experimenter and Hamlet.

A street date, special features and specs are still to come from Radiance Films.
