The Angry River Blu-ray from 88 Films

The Angry River (1971)

A milestone in Hong Kong film history - the very first film produced by the legendary Golden Harvest studios, for whom Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan made their best films. Kung Fu Queen Angela Mao (Invincible Eight) plays a woman searching for a way to cure her injured father - but the people who wounded him are still at large and she's a target too. Directed with flair by Huang Feng (The Himalayan) with action arranged by a young Sammo Hung, who also takes a small role, The Angry River shows the studio getting off to a flying start. 88 films are thrilled to present this seminal classic, finally available on Blu-Ray, and looking more impressive than ever.

The Invincible Eight Blu-ray from 88 Films

The Invincible Eight (1971)

Before he helped Bruce Lee unleash his Fists of Fury, director Lo Wei established himself as a master of action with swordplay classics like this story of family and vengeance; eight warriors - amongst them Nora Miao (The Way of the Dragon) and Angela Mao (Ener the Dragon) - ride out for revenge against the cruel general who killed all their fathers.

With action arranged by the young genius Sammo Hung - who also appears - Invincible Eight is an undisputed classic of early Hong Kong action, now beautifully restored and presented on blu-ray for the very first time.

The Himalayan (1976)

A martial arts epic from master director Huang Feng (The Angry River). After she's framed for adultery by her wicked brother-in-law Tseng Ching Lam (Angela Mao, Invincible Eight) takes to the hills to plot her revenge. That will come when she's learned the ancient Tibetan martial art of Mi - and her enemies won't know what's hit them. Partially filmed amongst the majestic scenery of Nepal, and boasting the kick-ass action you'd expect from a film where Sammo Hung handled the fights, The Himalayan is a monumental slice of seventies king fu, freshly restored and available on Blu-Ray for the very first time.
