Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans investigate a murder
Tony Scott directed The Last Boy Scout from a screenplay by Shane Black.
Bruce Willis plays Joe Hallenbeck, a private investigator worn down by his work and his view of the world. Damon Wayans plays Jimmy Dix, a former star quarterback expelled from professional football over gambling charges.
Jimmy’s girlfriend, Cory, hires Joe to protect her. Halle Berry plays Cory. Cory’s murder pulls Joe and Jimmy into a case linked to blackmail, politics and sports gambling.
Shane Black takes the buddy-action formula into bleak and violent territory. Tony Scott matches the script with smoke, neon, hard shadows and bursts of action. Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans ground the film with sharp humor and a tense partnership.
