'Picture Bride' Makes Worldwide Blu-ray Debut courtesy of Imprint Films
Imprint Films is releasing Picture Bride (1994) on Blu-ray under their Imprint Asia line.
Set in early 20th-century Hawaii, the film follows a young woman who journeys across the ocean with only a photograph to meet her arranged husband. Starring Youki Kudoh, Akira Takayama, and legendary actor Toshiro Mifune in his final role, the film earned critical acclaim and an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
This limited release includes only 1500 copies and features a 1080p HD presentation, audio commentary by Hatta, a new video essay by Walter Chaw, an interview with Professor Daisuke Miyao, and the featurette The ‘Picture Bride’ Journey.
Additional features include a theatrical trailer and music video performed by Kudoh. Presented in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Japanese and English LPCM 2.0 Mono audio and optional English subtitles.
