Ignite Films will release The Day of the Triffids on Blu-ray in the UK on December 14, 2026. The disc has a restoration of the 1963 film, the first adaptation of John Wyndham’s novel, which Steve Sekely and Freddie Francis directed. Howard Keel and Janina Faye star, with Kieron Moore and Janette Scott.
About The Day of the Triffids (1963)
The tale of a Europe falling into darkness still shocks with its prescience and cruelty. Directors Steve Sekely and Freddie Francis transform Wyndham’s tale of ecological apocalypse into a story of resolve and compromise. The flowering of man-eating Triffids are the undesired fallout of a disastrous meteor shower, which has blinded everyone who glanced at it. Howard Keel and Janina Faye take us on a tour of a United Kingdom in chaos while Kieron Moore and Janette Scott search for a way to defeat the leafy menace.
