About Champagne Rose Is Dead (1970)
Jason, a burnt-out secret agent with a silent sidekick, decides the espionage racket is boring, and likely to get him killed. He quits the organization CORPO, dodges his boss’s assassination attempt, then retreats to a Dutch country estate where his mistress Binji and three servants are waiting. But Jason gets pulled into the orbit of MOB, a sinister data-and-media conglomerate, all surveillance, mind-games, and manufactured illusion. Jason wants out entirely, but is condemned to fly forever, stuck in planes and airport transit lounges.
Who made Champagne Rose Is Dead
Calvin Floyd is a Swedish-American director and composer who made genre films, especially horror. Floyd worked in a Sweden focused on social realism and Ingmar Bergman. Champagne Rose Is Dead was Floyd’s directorial debut, a co-production between Sweden, the UK and the Netherlands.
Tony Forsberg was Floyd’s long-time cinematographer and producer. Forsberg was director of photography on Exposed (1970) and Dagmar’s Hot Pants, Inc (1971). He held the same role on Love Play (1972), Flossie (1974), When the Raven Flies (1984) and Sunday’s Children (1992). On Fanny & Alexander (1982), Forsberg was first assistant camera man.

Francis Matthews and Ton Lutz star in Champagne Rose Is Dead. Victor IV, Devi Morman, Phoa Yan Tiong and Jan Butlin also appear. His film roles include The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958), Corridors of Blood (1958) and Dracula, Prince of Darkness (1966).
