Description
A serial killer has Rome on edge! Paralyzing his victims, then proceeding to slice them open before their own eyes, this sadistic maniac must be stopped! Conflicted, burned-out, and feeling overwhelmed, Inspector Tellini must find the madman before he claims another victim in a case that edges closer and closer to his personal life.
Starring three Bond girls (Claudine Auger, Barbara Bouchet, and Rosella Falk), alongside another Bond alumnus, Giancarlo Giannini, “The Black Belly of the Tarantula” is a giallo cornerstone that broke the genre wide open and became one of the genre’s true classics.
Newly restored and presented in 4K ultra-high resolution for the first time, “The Black Belly of the Tarantula” is a hallmark of the giallo genre. The film will surprise you with its remarkable blend of style and substance, brooding tone, unflinching photography, and stellar cast that includes Giancarlo Giannini (CASINO ROYALE, QUANTUM OF SOLACE), Stefania Sandrelli (THE CONFORMIST, DEVIL IN THE BRAIN), Barbara Bach (SHORT NIGHT OF GLASS DOLLS, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME), Barbara Bouchet (DON’T TORTURE A DUCKLING, THE RED QUEEN KILLS SEVEN TIMES) and Silvano Tranquilli (THE BLOODSTAINED BUTTERFLY, HIGH CRIME).
Masterfully filmed by Paolo Cavara (MONDO CANE), this is “The Black Belly of the Tarantula,” and Celluloid Dreams is proud to present this newly scanned version, restored in 4K from the original camera negative, along with countless extras, in a high-quality, side-loaded slipcase that also contains an 80-page booklet and a set of publicity photo reprints. Note that this release is not sold in stores and does not have a slipcover!
