A Hero Never Dies Blu-ray Announced by Chameleon Films

Chameleon Films has announced its next Hong Kong cinema release, bringing A Hero Never Dies (1998) to Blu-ray. Directed by Johnnie To, the film arrives as spine number 008 in the Chameleon Films catalog and is expected to ship in December or January 2025–26. The announcement comes alongside the label’s upcoming Blu-ray of Soi Cheang’s Accident, continuing its focus on contemporary Hong Kong thrillers.
About the film
Johnnie To’s A Hero Never Dies stands as one of the most operatic entries in Hong Kong’s heroic bloodshed genre. Leon Lai and Lau Ching-wan star as Jack and Chau, rival bodyguards whose loyalty to opposing crime bosses ignites a violent feud stretching from Hong Kong to Thailand. Their mirrored sense of honor drives them toward inevitable confrontation, where brotherhood and betrayal spill as freely as red wine.
Packaging
The Blu-ray is housed in a numbered cardboard slipcase without classification markings and includes a Scanavo full-sleeved 14mm clear case. Inside is a reversible sleeve featuring both newly commissioned artwork and the film’s original poster design.
