Paramount Home Media Distribution will release Keenen Ivory Wayans’ Scary Movie on 4K UHD on October 20. The two-disc 4K UHD and Blu-ray combo pack features a new 4K master with Dolby Vision and HDR.
Wayans directed Scary Movie in 2000 from a screenplay by Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Buddy Johnson, Phil Beauman, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. The horror comedy stars Anna Faris, Jon Abrahams, Carmen Electra, Shannon Elizabeth, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans.
Scary Movie spoofs the horror hits of its era
Scary Movie follows a group of teenagers who find themselves stalked by a masked killer after an earlier accident comes back to haunt them.
The film spoofs the slasher movies that dominated the late 1990s, with Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer among its most obvious targets. Scary Movie also turns other popular films and horror conventions into material for its broad comedy.
Anna Faris stars as Cindy Campbell, while Jon Abrahams plays Bobby Prinze. Shannon Elizabeth appears as Buffy Gilmore, Regina Hall plays Brenda Meeks, and Shawn Wayans and Marlon Wayans play Ray Wilkins and Shorty Meeks.
Carmen Electra opens the film as Drew Decker in one of its best-known parodies of Scream.
Paramount gives Scary Movie a new 4K master
Paramount’s 4K UHD release uses a new 4K master of Scary Movie. The presentation includes Dolby Vision and HDR.
The package contains both a 4K UHD disc and a Blu-ray disc.
Paramount has also included several bonus features. Movie Showcase and a behind-the-scenes featurette appear alongside the original theatrical trailer.
