Reel Vault Unleashes Cult Comedy 'King Kung Fu' (1976) on Blu-ray August 26
Reel Vault is releasing King Kung Fu (1976) on Blu-ray on August 26, 2025.
King Kung Fu tells the outrageous story of a karate-trained gorilla raised in China by Master Alfunku. After defeating his master during a lesson, the gorilla is sent to the United States as a goodwill gift and ends up on public display in Wichita, Kansas. When a publicity stunt goes wrong, the gorilla is set loose, prompting a wild city-wide chase led by Police Captain J.W. Duke and his deputy Pilgrim, who resemble a pair of iconic Western stars.
As King Kung Fu wreaks comic havoc across town, he captures the heart of local beauty Rae Fey, leading to a climactic showdown atop Wichita's tallest building, the Holiday Inn. Packed with slapstick humor, parodies, and unforgettable characters, this family-friendly cult comedy blends martial arts mayhem with monster movie madness.
This region-free Blu-ray includes a brand new 4K restoration, the making-of short film Simianscope by Nathan Light, and optional English subtitles.
