Dead of Night (1945) 4K UHD Blu-ray Announced by Kino Lorber
Kino Lorber will release Dead of Night (1945) on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on Dec. 9, 2025. The British horror anthology features a new 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative and includes the complete, uncut UK version. The announcement follows other recent Kino Lorber news such as ILSA, HAREM KEEPER OF THE OIL SHEIKS (1976), the Pink Panther 4K UHD restorations, and the British war drama King and Country (1965).
Description
At a remote country estate, a group of strangers share eerie tales of the supernatural. A racer survives a near-death experience and begins to see terrifying visions. A teen’s game of hide-and-seek leads to a ghostly encounter. A couple’s antique mirror reveals a dark past. Two golfers make a bet that may haunt the winner. Finally, a ventriloquist unravels when his dummy seems to take control.
Dead of Night was directed by Charles Crichton, Basil Dearden, Alberto Cavalcanti, and Robert Hamer. The cast includes Michael Redgrave, Mervyn Johns, Googie Withers, Sally Ann Howes, Basil Radford, Roland Culver, Naunton Wayne, and Frederick Valk. Produced by Ealing Studios in the United Kingdom, the film runs 103 minutes and blends horror, thriller, drama, and fantasy.
Restoration and technical details
The film was restored in 4K from the 35mm original camera negative. It is presented in the 1.37:1 aspect ratio with English audio and optional English subtitles. The set includes both a 4K UHD disc and a Blu-ray disc.
