Dan Curtis' Gothic Tales Blu-ray releases this December from Kino Lorber

Kino Lorber is releasing Dan Curtis' Gothic Tales on Blu-ray as part of its Kino Cult line. The collection pairs two 1974 television movies adapted from classic 19th-century literature. The release arrives in December.
The Films
Dan Curtis' Gothic Tales contains The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Turn of the Screw. ABC originally aired both productions on its late-night anthology series Wide World Mystery. Shot on videotape, the films demonstrate Dan Curtis's talent for blending period literature with psychological horror. Glenn Jordan and Dan Curtis directed the productions.
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Shane Briant stars as a petulant young man who indulges in the most decadent pursuits 19th-century society can provide. Dorian appears impervious to age and free of guilt for his transgressions. A portrait hidden in his study reveals his moral disintegration as he descends further into depravity.
The Turn of the Screw
Lynn Redgrave stars as Miss Cubberly, a governess hired to care for two orphans. Jasper Jacob and Eva Griffith play the children. Miss Cubberly works at a country manor she believes is haunted by the spirits of a former governess and her lover. Her pursuit of the truth leads Miss Cubberly to the brink of insanity. The adaptation draws on the sexually charged elements of Henry James's original story.
Nigel Davenport, Charles Aidman, and Megs Jenkins appear in supporting roles.
Special Features
Jeff Thompson, author of The Television Horrors of Dan Curtis, provides introductions to both films. Film historians David Del Valle and Anthony Slide each contribute separate audio commentaries for The Picture of Dorian Gray. The Turn of the Screw includes a promotional short featuring interviews with producer Dan Curtis and actress Lynn Redgrave from the original 1974 broadcast. Anthony Slide also provides an audio commentary for The Turn of the Screw.

Kino Lorber will release Dan Curtis' Gothic Tales on Blu-ray on December 9, 2025. It is currently available to pre-order from kinolorber.com.
