88 Films March releases announced
88 Films is releasing seven titles in March. The lineup includes The Protector (1985), Sorority House Massacre (1986), Fade to Black (1980), Sakuran (2006), Stripped to Kill (1987), Shango (1970), and Helter Skelter (2012).
The Protector (1985) 4K UHD
88 Films is releasing The Protector (1985) on 4K UHD with all three cuts of the film. The release features new artwork by Sean Longmore.
The story follows NYPD officer Billy Wong after a robbery leaves his partner dead. When the daughter of a powerful figure is kidnapped and taken to Hong Kong, Wong and his partner Danny Garoni pursue the case overseas. Their investigation leads them through criminal networks, assassination attempts, corrupt officials, and a personal web of allies and enemies tied to the crime boss responsible. The two officers close in on the kidnappers as they work to dismantle the operation and rescue the victim.
Sorority House Massacre (1986) 4K UHD
88 Films is releasing Sorority House Massacre (1986) on 4K UHD as part of their Slasher Classics Collection.
Beth, a college student with fragmented memories of a childhood trauma, joins a sorority and begins experiencing unsettling flashes of the past. As familiar details in the house surface and her sense of déjà vu intensifies, she becomes increasingly aware that her history is tied to something far more disturbing than she ever realized. A series of frightening incidents around the sorority forces Beth to confront the truth she has long been unable to fully remember.
Fade to Black (1980) 4K UHD
Fade to Black (1980) joins the Slasher Classics Collection. The story centers on Eric Binford, a socially isolated film obsessive who begins acting out violent fantasies inspired by classic cinema. As his delusions grow, Eric adopts the personas of film icons to target those who wronged him, drawing the attention of investigators working to stop his escalating attacks.
Sakuran (2006) Blu-ray
Sakuran (2006) follows Kiyoha, a courtesan in Edo period Japan. She rises through the ranks in Yoshiwara while asserting her independence in a strict environment. The film traces her efforts to define her own path and navigate the pressures of the red light district.
Stripped to Kill (1987) Blu-ray
Stripped to Kill (1987) is joining the Slasher Classics Collection. The film centers on Cody, a police officer who goes undercover as a dancer after witnessing a murder outside a Los Angeles strip club. As more killings occur, Cody investigates the performers and patrons tied to the club and uncovers a case involving identity, jealousy, and violence.
Shango (1970) Blu-ray
Shango (1970) follows a Union Ranger captured by Confederates and bandits after the Civil War. After escaping, Shango works with locals to confront Major Droster and Martinez, who have been exploiting nearby communities. The film tracks Shango’s efforts to organize resistance and bring the outlaws to justice.
Helter Skelter (2012) Blu-ray
Helter Skelter (2012) appears under the Japanarchy line. The story follows Ririko, a top celebrity who undergoes extensive cosmetic surgeries. As the procedures begin affecting her physically and mentally, her behavior grows unstable. The film examines her decline as career pressure and personal turmoil worsen.
These releases follow their previously announced December lineup and the January slate that includes On the Run, Devil Times Five.
