The Girl Who Leapt Through Time 4K Blu-ray from Cult Epics arrives in January 2026

Cult Epics will release The Girl Who Leapt Through Time on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD in January. The 1983 film, directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi and adapted from Yasutaka Tsutsui’s 1967 novel, marks Tomoyo Harada’s screen debut and a defining work in Obayashi’s teen fantasy cycle.

Film overview
Obayashi’s film follows 15-year-old Kazuko Yoshiyama after a fainting spell in the school lab leaves her with a mysterious ability to leap through time. As she begins to relive moments and glimpse alternate outcomes, she becomes drawn to an otherworldly observer whose presence feels both familiar and fleeting. The story combines wistful first love, youthful energy, and the director’s imaginative visual style into a timeless coming-of-age fantasy.
Release date
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time will release on January 20, 2026, with pre-orders beginning December 16, 2025.
