Prison on Fire I & II 4K Blu-ray set coming this February from Shout! Studios
Shout! Studios is releasing Prison on Fire and Prison on Fire II in February 2026 as part of its Hong Kong Cinema Classics line. It will arrive alongside The Big Heat (1988) 4K, also releasing in February.
The release presents both prison-set crime dramas in a new 4-disc set sourced from 4K scans of the original camera negative, and newly translated English subtitles across the set.
Film Overviews
Prison on Fire is an explosive prison-set crime drama that made a strong impact on audiences on its original release. The film focuses on two inmates, played by Chow Yun-fat and Tony Ka Fai Leung, who navigate the violence and tensions inside the prison while forming a close bond.
Prison on Fire II follows Ching as he attempts to survive a Hong Kong prison housing a large population of Mainland Chinese inmates. After escaping to see his young son in an orphanage, Ching finds himself targeted by the vengeful chief of security, Zau, whose manipulations spark a conflict involving Dragon, the Mainland faction leader, with whom Ching shares more similarities than either expects.
Video and Audio Specs
Both Prison on Fire and Prison on Fire II are sourced from 4K scans of the original camera negative. Disc 1 and Disc 3 are 4K UHD presentations in Dolby Vision. Disc 2 and Disc 4 are Blu-ray presentations sourced from the same restorations.
All four discs present the films in their original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Optional English subtitles newly translated for this release are included across all discs.
The 4K UHD discs are region free while the Blu-ray discs are Region A.

The Prison on Fire I and II box set will release on February 24, 2026. It is currently available to pre-order.
