Noriko’s Dinner Table Blu-ray coming soon from New Wave Video
New Wave Video has confirmed that Noriko’s Dinner Table is coming soon to Blu-ray in Australia. The label shared the news in a recent interview. This will be the fourth title in New Wave Video’s line.
A companion piece to Sion Sono’s Suicide Club, the 2005 feature follows 17-year-old Noriko Shimabara as she leaves her small town for Tokyo. There she meets Kumiko, who runs the online BBS Haikyo.com, and is drawn into a “rental family” circle. After a mass schoolgirl suicide, the story turns to identity, family, and alienation in the digital age.
New Wave Video is undertaking a new restoration sourced from the original 35mm negatives. The film was captured digitally at the time and transferred to 35mm for postproduction. Working from the negatives should deliver the most faithful presentation to date with improved detail and texture.
The release is being produced in collaboration with InlanDimensions International Arts Network.
We will update with street date, artwork, full specs, and preorder information as soon as they are available.
Also coming soon from New Wave Video are UROTSUKIDŌJI – THE PERFECT COLLECTION, Rubber's Lover and Strange Circus.
