Laurel and Hardy- The Restored Features Volume One Blu-ray Arrives Dec

ClassicFlix has announced the Blu-ray debut of Laurel and Hardy: The Restored Features Volume One, collecting the beloved comedy duo’s first two feature-length films. The set will be released on Dec. 9, 2025.

This release showcases Pardon Us (1931) and Pack Up Your Troubles (1932), fully restored and remastered for high-definition presentation.

The films included

The collection features two early feature-length comedies from Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, presented in new restorations with historical significance for longtime fans.

Pardon Us (1931)

Pardon Us finds Stan and Ollie as “guests of the state” after selling homemade beer to a policeman during Prohibition. A parody of MGM’s The Big House (1930), the film features a supporting cast of Roach regulars, including June Marlowe, James Finlayson, Walter Long, Wilfred Lucas, Tiny Sandford, Harry Bernard, Otto Fries and Charlie Hall.

The film has been restored by ClassicFlix and presented in its original 55-minute theatrical version. This cut has been unavailable for decades and was long regarded as a “Holy Grail” among Laurel and Hardy collectors.

Pack Up Your Troubles (1932)

The duo returned the following year with Pack Up Your Troubles, sending their brand of slapstick comedy to the battlefields of World War I. Laurel and Hardy navigate military life, reunite with their nemesis Finlayson, and even face off with an irate Army chef played by co-director George Marshall.

The restoration was overseen by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and The Film Foundation, with support from the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation. Cast members include Don Dillaway, Jacquie Lynn, Mary Carr, Richard Cramer, Tom Kennedy, Charles Middleton, Grady Sutton and Billy Gilbert.

Bonus features

ClassicFlix has also prepared several extras to accompany this release:

Historical significance

Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy had been working separately in Hal Roach’s silent comedies before officially teaming in 1927’s Putting Pants on Philip. Their short subjects quickly became some of the most popular two-reelers of the late 1920s. By 1931, Roach moved them into features, beginning with Pardon Us, which expanded their slapstick routines to a larger canvas.

The inclusion of the original theatrical version of Pardon Us makes this release especially noteworthy, as it has been missing from home video for decades.

Laurel and Hardy: The Restored Features, Volume 1 is currently available to pre-order from ClassicFlix.com.
