Idle on Parade (1959) Limited Edition Blu-ray Announced by Indicator

Indicator is bringing John Gilling’s Idle on Parade to Blu-ray for the first time in the UK as part of its February 2026 lineup. The world-premiere release is Region B will be limited to 3,000 copies.
A pop star meets the Army
Starring Anthony Newley, William Bendix, Anne Aubrey, and Lionel Jeffries, this 1959 musical comedy follows rock idol “Jeep” Jackson, whose Army call-up collides with his celebrity lifestyle. His attempts to balance fame with national service wreak havoc for his commanding officers and turn military life into chaos.
Directed by John Gilling and written by John Antrobus, Idle on Parade captures the early days of Britain’s rock ’n’ roll scene. Produced by Warwick Films, the company behind several 1950s adventure and crime hits, it serves as both a comedy and a snapshot of cultural change.
Blu-ray details
The Limited Edition Blu-ray features a High Definition remaster with original mono audio, plus a new commentary by writers Barry Forshaw and Kim Newman. Additional features include a newly recorded appreciation of the film and soundtrack by composer Neil Brand, the 1950 short film Jack of What Trade? featuring a young Anthony Newley, and a collector booklet with new writing by David Cottis.
Release date
Idle on Parade will be released on February 16, 2026, alongside The Man Inside, Jazz Boat, and You Must Be Joking! as part of Indicator’s February 2026 lineup.
