Farewell My Concubine (1993) Gets a New Dolby Vision 4K Release from Imprint Films

Imprint Films is releasing Farewell My Concubine (1993) on 4K UHD and Blu-ray in February 2026 as part of its Imprint Asia line. The edition features a new Dolby Vision presentation within a Limited Edition Hardbox.
Film Overview
Farewell My Concubine follows two boys who meet at a Peking opera training school in 1924. Their relationship spans nearly 70 years and intersects with major events in China’s twentieth-century history. The film stars Leslie Cheung, Zhang Fengyi, and Gong Li. It is the only Chinese-language film to win the Palme d’Or and appears on Time Magazine’s list of the 100 Best Films in Global History.

Farewell My Concubine is housed in a Limited Edition Hardbox containing one 4K UHD disc and one Blu-ray disc. The release includes a 60-page hardcover booklet with production stills and new essays written by Grace Han and Walter Chaw.
Video and Audio Specs
The 4K UHD disc features a 2160p Dolby Vision and HDR10 presentation sourced from the original 35mm camera negative while the Blu-ray disc presents the film in 1080p high definition.
Both discs present the film in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Mandarin DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and optional English subtitles.
