Twenty-five years after Emperor Kuzco first turned into a llama, Disney is celebrating The Emperor's New Groove with a special theatrical run and new home video release. The animated comedy returns to Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre for four days in November before arriving on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and digital platforms in December.

Release date

The Emperor's New Groove will screen at El Capitan Theatre November 21-24, 2025 before arriving on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and digital platforms December 9, 2025.

The physical release is a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray combo pack which includes 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs, and a redeemable code for a digital version of the film.

Cast and story

David Spade voices Emperor Kuzco, a self-centered ruler transformed into a llama. Eartha Kitt plays Yzma, the devious royal adviser who orchestrates the transformation. Patrick Warburton voices Kronk, Yzma's well-meaning but dim-witted henchman. John Goodman voices Pacha, the kindhearted peasant who becomes Kuzco's unlikely ally.

The Emperor's New Groove follows Kuzco's journey after his transformation. The once-mighty emperor forms an alliance with Pacha despite their different backgrounds. Together they navigate obstacles created by Yzma and Kronk while traveling to reverse the curse.
